saying goodbye

I'll never forget the first time i left my home for more than one nights.
i was 11 years old ,and i was going to a beach for a day with my friends. When my parents told me what to do on the beach with friends, i was excited. there were all kinds of activities: swimming in the sea,sandcastles,etc . My mom helped me choose my clothes and pack my suitcase.

Whole family of my friend took me to the beach. When we reached the beach all looked amazing.

We had an amazing day at sea and sand everything was perfect until we decided to return to Guayaquil. We have fun and spend a memorable weekend with my best friend.

CUADRO DE CALIFICACION

Hi guys,

here you will see the 'cuadro de calificacion' that was explained at the beginning of the school year.

Partial exam:
Reading for 5 points
Speaking for 5 points
Writing for 5 points
Listening for 5 points

CO-EVALUATIVE ITEMS:
1- Actitud y disposicion en clase 3 points
2- Participacion Pertinente y relevante 3 points
3- Material en clase y bien presentado 1 point
4- Presentacion de Higiene y Limpieza 1 point
5- Puntualidad en Clase 1 point
6- Workbook 5 points
7- Portfolio o Writing Activities: essays, compositions, emails, etc. 3 points
8- Mini quiz 3 points.

It is important to say that the items: 1, 2, 4 and 5 are graded by each student. If there is any disagreement between the teacher and the student, they will discuss it.

Next week I am going to collect all text books for grading the item 3 so I recommend you to cover them with a plastic protection.

YOUR FIRST ESSAY

It's sad to say that not many of my students still understand the IMPORTANCE of writing. Today we had our first experience of this school year and I could see that just a few of them were really interested in writing.

I hope that the next time we won't face this situation one more time.

EXAMS SCHEDULE AND RUBRICS

Hi my dear students,

These are the deadlines for exams:

May 15th, Tuesday:

WRITTEN EXAM. It will be about reading, listening and writing. Five points each.

May 16th, Wednesday:

ORAL EXAM, for five points also.

The rubrics for WRITTEN SECTION are the next:

The content is fully in relation with the instruction.
The message is clearly communicated
 2 or less spelling and grammatical errors.      
4
The content is fully in relation with the instruction.          
The message is clearly communicated          
From 2 to 4 spelling and grammatical errors.
3
The content is in relation with the instruction.               
The message is  communicated      
From 5-6 spelling and grammatical errors.

The content is a little bit in relation with the instruction.
The message is a little bit communicated.
More than 7 spelling and grammatical errors.

The content is almost not in relation with the instruction.The message is  not  clearly communicated

The rubrics for ORAL EXAM are the next:


Teacher will mark each topic from 1-5. Five is the maximum.
When can you get a 5?  When:
GRAMMAR AND VOCABULARY
The student appropriately uses a range of structures and vocabulary from the course with non impeding erros.
FLUENCY
The student can form several sentences together and react to questions without any undue hesitation.
PRONUNCIATION
The student can be easily understood and shows fairly natural speech (intonation, stress and linking).
INTERACTIVE COMMUNICATION
The student can respond and initiate interaction
CONTENT AND GLOBAL GOAL
The oral practice must be in relation with the given instruction.

GOOD SUGGESTIONS AND COMMENTS

Oh yeah!!! What good comments I have seen....just to give a reply to Sofi. Yes, you are right, students should have their own accounts, but I prefer you work from my account because in my opinion it could be a form to filter the people who'd like to leave their comments here. Remember that the internet is usually used by undesirable people who try to harm innocent users.
On the other hand, I agree with some of you who say that this is a form to do homework in a fun form.

WELCOME TO YOUR NEW BLOG!!!

Hello my dear co-participants in this new blog. I'm really excited by starting a new form to express our ideas, feelings and thoughts.

Using a blog should be seen as a new form to write freely and practice this skills. Also, you can feel free to manage it with the designs of your choice. So don't feel afraid of making changes here. You can upload pictures and talk about your best experiences here.

But as it was said above, we are going to use this blog to practice writing skills and it will be done in relation to the topics that are going to be given during the school year.
